Fossilized Worm Named After MOTÖRHEAD Frontman
October 6, 2006According to Playlouder, a Swedish scientist named a 428-million-year-old fossilized worm (a marine polychaete annelid worm) that he found in the Silurian strata of Gotland, Sweden after the not yet killed-by-death MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister. "[It is] the perfect combination for a long-time fan of the band (and the music genre) and a professor of paleontology, as myself," explained Dr. Mats E. Eriksson, Associate Professor of Paleontology in the Department of Geology at Lund University.
"So, not only is he already a legend in the music business but his name will have a permanent record in Science," Eriksson added. "The fossil in question is a c. 428 million year old jaw of an extinct, marine polychaete annelid worm found in the Silurian strata of Gotland, Sweden. Its scientific name is Kalloprion Kilmisteri."
